You people are treating ebola like it's the zombie apocolypse. Things such as mass graves/quarantines are obviously prepared EVEN IF things get extreme, which they won't. I partially blame the media for scaring you pansies so much, but cmon some people need to think.

As far as cultural differences, I come from/live in the south as well, and I'm still not acting mental over 3 cases of Ebola in the US. It's not about where you're from, it's about what goes on inside your mind, and how you evaluate risks. Apperantly there are those who cannot do so effectively, (resulting in paranoia, in crude medical terms).

The conversation dropped from Ebola to any type of disaster quite a while ago.
It started because Simons, Fyse, and the others thought the fact that I was prepared for a disaster made me an idiot.

I simply am critical of Ebola and the potential it has. Even if it got serious it would take a very long time and would probably be due to some mutation. I don't really think it will be what tears civilized nations apart- but I am not completely ruling it out just because thats what some person who works for the CDC says.  

In Australia a few weeks ago someone who came home from West Africa was showing symptoms of Ebola but later was cleared. The media wouldn't shut up about whether they had the disease or not but it would've been a better idea to announce it after doctors had determined whether the person had it or not, so everybody wouldn't freak out. If you were to ask me if the media have entirely blown this out of proportion? Yes.

That was posted on the 13th. Since then many scientists and such have since said it will be extremely rare for this to go airborne as seen by many posts in this thread if you care to read.

Also if it was airborne by the time this article was posted, more people would be infected.

I'm laughing for two reasons.

1. WND is extremely biased, and they put the same information as every other ultra-conservative news website puts up.

JB: There have been worries that Ebola can become a pandemic like HIV and spread around the world. Even Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was recently saying as much. Your thoughts?

PJ: The mode of transmission is different between the two viruses. Ebola causes an acute infection which you either die from or you're immune, you don't carry the virus for long periods of time. Whereas with AIDS, a lot of people transmitting AIDS didn't know they have it. Before we had a triple cocktail therapy, AIDS was lethal with the exception of a few people who were not susceptible. Long term AIDS was hotter than Ebola. My gut feeling is that Ebola is going to burn out in human populations.

The fact that people are still freaked out to this degree over ebola is laughable.
