Actually, the New Zealand flag has been in use since 1869. They held a competition for the Australian flag in 1901. Therefore, though our flag was only made official in 1902, we chose it first.

I'm aware ;)

Finally, Chaotic, of course we speak English o-o. We were first colonized by the United Kingdom - where, funnily enough, they also speak English. Our other official languages are Māori and Sign Language.

They speak english, they just aren't very good at it.

New Zealand accents are influenced by the fact that New Zealand is a Pacific Island nation. It is influenced by Maori, which is similar to quite a few other Pacific dialects, such as Samoan or Tongan.

Just because we have an accent does not mean we aren't good at it. Read my writing - does it look like I'm bad at English?

And if you're aware, why say we stole it? o-o

Actually, being born British and moving to Australia, I find the Australian accent is a mutilation of the English language whereas New Zealanders accents aren't as bad.

I like this guy.

Often I hear British people saying our accents are the same. It's something I find quite interesting, actually, peoples opinions on our accents.

It is called the Three Worlds Theory. It was first used in the Cold War to show alliances. First World was used to describe the United States and its allies during the Cold War. Second World was the Soviet Union, China, and their allies. Third World was countries that were unaligned.

Now, the Three Worlds Theory is based on the Human Development Index.

New Zealand was a First World country in the Cold War, and remains a First World country under the new Three Worlds Theory.
