Heres the equivalent of what you're showing me, based on one of my old sprites (even though the example i posted looks somewhat weak):

You just recolored and shifted a few pixels to easily say that you can claim it yours and that you made the sprite.

Thats not an edit.. Comparing between the example you posted, it looks more of a recolor to be honest.

I'm not claiming I made it. I know it's a very easy small edit. If someone asked if I made it I wouldn't say I recolored it because I did more than that. If someone asked if I made it I would simply say I edited the default body. I want to put this example below onto the thread, but it's not letting me.  

Unfortunately uploaders do not enforce any of this and recolours go through the system easy as anything else.

See.. That's an example you should've used.. It looks less of a recolor and alot more of an edit so yes.. I can say that you did made that one, not the blue holographic recolor one

Yeah, I probably should have used that. I have no idea why it won't let me edit the thread. I only have the option of quote and reply.  

Can't edit OP after 24 hours. Annoying, but I think it's probably necessary. For extremely long guides that will need editing it's worth reserving the first few posts.

Is that allowed?
