Imma stop BSin. A good sparrer is one who wins spars despite whether or not they talk s***. Attitude has nothing to do with it. If a great sparrer is a person who walks around the spar arena telling everyone else how good they are at spar, yet they can't win one themselves, then I'd damned.

... here i go posting on one of those spar threads again... honestly i didnt read much of this so im replying to noone in particular Honestly i do believe the spar rating system is a good judge of good/bad, unless youre boosting. Theres not a correct/incorrect way to spar; wall spar and running and spamming etc are lame excuses, theyre just different spar stategies. If you fall for the same cheap move 6 times, then lol@u |

Take what you said and replace zeross with qes to be more accurate. I wish all servers had a spar record for your account vs other accounts. I hear so many people say they have a winning record against almost every sparrer. Unless you're in top 5 or 10 ranks, you probably don't at all. |

Zeross was good enough to do what every really good sparrer eventually does, which is get bored of the game and leave it alone. There's really nothing left to accomplish on UN anymore after you poop on every sparrer. I took this thread as separating good and bad sparrers from each other, since "good and bad sparring" isn't even worth discussing because it's obvious and can't really be questioned. How can anything other than cheating/hacking in any way be considered "bad?" If someone were to say "spamming" or "walling" (I still refuse to use either term because they're just ******ed, on PC we call that double-slashing and sparring defensively) is bad then that's even more reason for you to do it, because obviously they don't like it and probably spar poorly against it. There's too much "bad" in the sparring community, in every way you can twist the word. On PC, the upper-tier sparring community were all pretty friendly with one another. We all self-hosted leagues and tournaments, we'd meet every other night to do huge and competitive tag spar events, etc. On iClassic (or at least last time I played), it's all drama and chitchat. There's like a half-dozen sparrers I actually have some sort of respect for and can say I enjoy sparring, win or lose. |

I actually made this thread one day when I was annoyed by people complaining about wall sparring, spamming, etc. Those are tools used to win, I don't find them insulting, but I hope people don't avoid sparring like they want to just because other people make fun of them. If you listen to people who want you to spar easy on them so they can win you won't get any better.

The spar community stinks nowadays... Everyone is always upset at losses, quick to make excuses and blame others (or the server), and are far too proud of themselves for their own good. Also, people tend to get a high rating and leave it there, without sparring it away. I did that a week or so ago and let me tell you, it really is easy to rocket up the ranks if you only spar semi-actively! What we need is an active, respectful spar community with guilds full of members that will help each other improve. This is good sparring imo. |

Honestly, there are no 'better' sparrers. We all have our weak points... I will not deny being a really ego-tistical sparrer back when I cared about stats. But there will never be 'good', we will always lose to someone, no matter what or when. On the other hand, attitude does come into play when you want to become respected. You can't rage at people and expect it to be blown off in a matter of seconds, it lingers. So, a 'good' sparrer would watch their mouths and stuff. So, anyone could be a 'good' sparrer if they tried. |

Still not convinced that attitude determines if you're good or bad. The sparring community would be boring as hell if you were all respectful drones. David and Jack are good examples of good sparrers. Not only are they probably 2 of the top 5 sparrers on iClassic, but they don't turn sparring into some corny social event. They just queue up, spar, get bored, then leave. They also obviously prefer to be at a top spot on the leaderboards without obsessing over it, which is sort of healthy for that part of the community. The PC leaderboards have been the same for months, anyway. They spar really straight, too. Never any type of delay, never hugging the wall or doing whatever else. Some people can't help but delay and others spar best when they play defensively, but the higher-skilled sparrers have always sparred really offensively. That's just the most fun way to spar, and eventually you get to the point where you know you're good and you can spar to your preference and for fun rather than solely for a desperate win. I'd point out my idea of "bad" sparrers but it'd bring a lot of butthurt and people would probably make dramatic statuses whining about it. They know who they are, anyway. |

A good sparrer spends 10 years on graal, Thallen. Also a good sparrer doesn't boast about how great they are. (Take note iherc, Thallen, all of mother, some sage and US) |
