Apparently, Doom 4 ain't dead yet
Well, it seems the whole Doom 4 delay-redo-whatever dilemma has been cleared up a bit at this year's QuakeCon. According to id, they're still working at it and have officially focused on it as their one and only project for the time being. Apparently the first delay was because they felt it just wasn't Doom. And now they've been on it ever since.... The thing is, we thankfully need not worry about them ruining it and making it end up like Duke Nukem Forever, because they literally stated they didn't want it to feel like it was still stuck in the 90's. What I hope is that doesn't mean they'll continue from Doom 3's direction and water down Doomguy's bad-arse 80mph (according to actual canon it's 52mph, but it's been calculated to be much higher ) running, possessed zombie gunning awesomeness... Yeah, that's right, Doomguy's is the original "Master Cheif"... Wait did Marathon come out before Doom....? No I doubt it... Lol but anywho, at least we know Doom 4 is coming.. Eventually...

Long delays and time in development are usually a bad sign. Hopefully Doom isn't doomed to be a bad game. |

Duke Nukem Forever wasn't 90's at all. It was more like 2000's when it was trying to be a terrible old-school Halo FPS. I understand where people come from and that they appreciate the 'nostalgia' but it's 2013 and we have so many gamers that aren't experienced with this 'nostalgia'. No one knew Duke Nukem as much as hardcore gamers and no one didn't enjoy the old-school experience like they would with these more modern stable shooters. I'm glad Doom is not going down this path like Duke Nukem used to. It feels much better this way and that they could incorporate all the basic Doom elements without staying so restricted of 'nostalgia'. I hope i could still mow down hell constantly with a shotgun xD Spoiler

Gearbox ****ted out DNF just to get it out the door and make any money they could from a half assed crappy game. They also half assed Aliens Colonial Marines and allegedly took money from that games budget for Borderlands. They're never getting a cent from me again. And if I do want a game from them I'll be buying it used so they dont get money for it. |

Yeah, that's the one thing between me and playing it. I simply don't like the idea of turning doom into a horror game like that. Honestly, would you like it if Master Cheif had all his superhuman stuff like super-enhanced speed taken away as to make a less bad-arse experience and a more scary one? Because I'd rather have 80mph running and shooting up intelligent possessed zombies and frequent straight up demons.
