Can My PC Run Amnesia?
Sorry, when it comes to hardware with computers, I'm not really an expert on it. I saw a really nice sale on Steam so I decided to finally get some more games for it and download the Sonic Collection. I have $5 left over, so I thought I would try Amnesia. However, I am not sure if my computer is capable of running it well. My PC: ![]() Requirements:

Yes, of course. It only runs on computers or laptop systems. It's available on Linux, Mac (Mac OS), and Windows. Go to their site, and buy it from there. |

Your pc/laptop seems to be able to run the game, but if you could try a demo version of the game if it offers I recommend playing it that way to see if it works just fine. If you like it buy it.

I have similar specs and the first Amnesia (Dark Descent, not Machine for Pigs. It will be on a better sale during the holiday season, I promise ). Except, my Pentium dual core is 2.1gz and my brother upgraded my memory to 8 GB instead of 4. The difference is minuscule, and the game ran the same way before the upgrade. I believe the new game has a bit better graphics, but not really that much since it runs on the same engine and is almost a port from the original game. My laptop runs it perfectly fine with low textures, medium shadows and shadow resolution (to keep creepy effect, and also still looks great). I play in 1280x600 resolution because it runs best, but its worth changing if you aren't quite getting the performance or experience you were hoping for.TL;DR, yes you can run it well, and you should pick up Amnesia: The Dark Descent for $3.99 while you can. If you like it (you will), get the new sequel during the winter sale. Sources: my observations and brother's techyness (he wrote this post.) |

Why can't these specs be more simple? Like: Level 5 Dell Level 4 Dell Level 3 Dell It'd be so much more convenient than Nvidia Quadcore S37J666N00Mjw |

It recommends that dual-core CPUs like yours should be overclocked, so if you don't want to go down that path, then a simple upgrade to a quad-core will suffice. Integrated graphics (which I assume you're using) usually can't run anything 3D past 2005ish with a clean framerate, so that should definitely be on the upgrade list. Anything above $80 in GPUs can handle most games with at least 40-50 FPS, at least on medium settings, given a more recent game. Everything else looks fine. You could also upgrade to the more standard 8GB RAM, but 4GB should be fine.

Yeah, Dusty suggested it and it was correct. My PC wasn't able to run Amnesia.

Oh, I was incorrect. Your CPU and RAM may have been the issue. Talon is right. I would have thought integrated graphics on a newer Pentium than mine would run the game alright with low texture settings. Oh well.
