Do you "eat" or "drink" soup?
This is possibly the most pathetic argument I've had with someone but I mean you do drink soup because obviously soup is liquid, you drink the broth, but how do you drink the solid parts. (Assuming that you're talking to someone and you say "I'm going to ___ some soup")

Depends. If you're using a spoon of some kind to bring the soup to your mouth, you're eating it. If you're bringing the bowl up to your mouth, you're drinking it.

It's a both for me. I eat it when others are looking - drink it when they're not. It's a convenience for me to drink it to save time.

If we're going by technicalities, I'm siding with the 'eat' side. It's classified as a "liquid food" (which are eaten), not a beverage (which are drank). Technicalities aside, I'm going with both, as the broth can definitely be drunk I still side with 'eat' because I don't feel that soup loses its identity as a liquid food once the solids are gone. While you can make a case for both, it sure as hell isn't just "drank" by itself. Soup isn't a beverage. Eating soup is much like eating yogurt, another liquid food. You don't drink yogurt.

okay so the more I've thought about this question the more it can be interpreted differently by different people so I went out and asked a ton of people on other forums and everyone that was currently online on my League friends list   League friends' consensus: Eat - 9 Drink - 3 Both - 2 i also had a debate with my friends which sounded pretty ****ing dumb but i might upload it anyway |
