Hey guys, over the summer I've been learning a lot about business on my own. I thought I'd share what I'm learning along my journey in this thread. Anyone who wants to learn, or add constructive criticism/comment on my notes jump aboard! Feel free to post anything business related as well.

I've been learning from a business 101 book PDF (currently on page 66) http://www.saylor.org/site/wp-conten...ok-May2011.pdf this pdf is a little outdated so if you find something better, add it!

And so far I've watched a few Standford lectures on startups (4/20): Here's the first one

Intro To Business has to be the easiest course any college student will or can take. Got an easy A.  

Wow just scanning through the table of contents, that book really encompasses a lot. My "Introduction to Business" course didnt even have a book... it was just an old man boring us to death for an hour; and at the end of the class he expected us to write a 25page business plan (contains stuff we had no clue how to do at the time lol).

Are you considering majoring in an area of business, or what is your purpose?

In the fall Ill start my 3rd year of Accounting/Finance double major

Since you've already taken the class, anything you pulled away from it that's generally useful? Or just some things you remember?

I'm trying to get into the business school @ my college next year so I can double major in French/International Business. I'd rather get a jump start on everything, since the more hours you put into something the better. I'm taking classes like financial accounting, econ, and i think some others next semester.  

Well I took the class back in my first year of college, so it's much of a blur to remember however if I can find my textbook (once I find it I'll try to find a pdf version) and my notes. You eventually do have to do a business plan as part of the course.

Macroeconomics is a really cool class. But it's very conceptual, so you really have to pay attention to understand how everything ties together. Similar with financial accounting, concepts build on each other, so the basics are important to know. I took a very slow paced highschool accounting course, so I had a leg up. In the college Accounting I course, we covered everything I learned in the HS class in 3-4 weeks.  

Perhaps Twilit can show MD how a proper economy should work. "Economy Admin" sounds nice.

I'm learning AP Macro and AP Micro Economics next year, so I'm looking forward to learning about finance.
