Id rather be able to place candy in a bowl since were stuck with them.

Getting single use, expendable items for your efforts is depressing. Some poor graalian inevitably gets food in almost all their gifts at christmas... gets only small gralats and fireworks on the spin wheel... etc.

If there's any amount of effort (or expense in the case of christmas gifts) involved in attempting to obtain a random prize, please do not make it food.
Let us buy foods, I know I have had a lot of profit from them, but not have them be the dud prize in a random draw.

That'll be two bits plz.

Sorry, but that's just the way it's gotta be. Not every prize can be some amazing, unique item. Especially when some people spend a lot of time on events and amass a quite a lot of prizes.

What kind of limited use items are we talking about though? If it's
just foo, food and more food you might aswell just give them gralats as that'd even make them more happy than 500 pieces of candy.

So for halloween make 3-5 cool hats, 3-5 juggles, 1 pogo, 1 morph, mount with recolors, 1-2 ganis... Make a limitation of 2-3 attempts per day at whatever the rewardable activity is and you have your bottleneck. No one could get ALL the items if the event is 3 days... Make the event have an 8 hour 'refresh' for each player, and they get three tries per day. Bam. Problem solved.

Spending 400-800 on a gift box to have some one else get 25 gralats is embarrassingly bad though. Possible solution - increase the price per gift or limit the number a player can give out in a day instead of giving dud prizes..? Maybe make some kind of "Santa Token" or something that grants players the ability to give a certain number of gifts, obtainable once per day?

It's all possible... No one needs to get a rock at halloween, charlie brown.

Only thing i miss about past halloweens was that the NPC's would dress up and you can give 5 ish candy for trick or treat. Last year there was no "trick" to the "treat"
I kind of lost it last year as it was boring and the rewards didn't seem rewarding enough. With the NPC's there was enough time to get candy (maybe change how to get it??) and there was enough NPC's around so that you could always do it.
Part from the ghosts dropping candy, i didn't see what was wrong about it. hopefullly what ever admins have planned is not boring and is rewarding enough.
