Whats happening ? Can't log on zone and zforums are broken..

This is what zone needs to look like: It needs to be dark, with neon/glowing lights all over the place. Aka: make the tileset maker watch tron while they make the tileset.

I think in day hours it should look like the picture from fallout 4 that was posted, but at night it suddenly turns to a more tron-like feel

Or, what if the "pk arena" on the new skyworld was more like tron, as well as the spar arenas, which will make it feel a lot more like zone was meant to be a pvp based game. (Btw, I think there should be a large pk arena with buildings, obstacles and such) I reckon there should be a respawning system kinda like borderlands, which would make sense in organized futuristic warfare.

Then upon going to other planets, the government and law suddenly doesn’t exist, which means organized warfare doesn’t either, and the world becomes the battlefield. I think guns and knives should be allowed in buildings on other planets, if that ever happens, because It doesn't make much sense if once you enter a building, "haha, I'm inside, so that means you, as psychopathic as you are, can't kill me under any circumstances even though you really want to."

 

me personally I would go for a bright look completely out of range of era completely sci-fi but in a colorful way. My plan B is to add at least 18 guns! Look at era, they have at least 109 guns total after all these years, but look at izone we only have like 20 different guns and the only guns people REALLY use is rippers and rail gun. Each gun would serve as something a player would most enjoy out of. For example, if someone wants a really fast gun that gun should have a fast speed but something negative along it like low capacity. Also they should be a lot more futuristic look at all the new guns they have the same base color with nothing special about them and they don't match the kind of futuristic that zone was going for at first. It takes a lot to make guns but they usually come out worth it if it serves a good purpose.  

find someone who can make all this is the bigger obstacle  

it's just that players can really help make zone better but usually they won't have the requirements to be an admin..;/ for example they may not be able to play 7 hours a day but they CAN have the ability to draw new things  

i highly doubt that its a requirement to be online 7 hours a day

show me someone on graal who is willing to make some tilesets in an acceptable quality and who doesnt suddenly quit because of whatever

the most common reason to be rejected is probably that people want to become admin because they thing its so cool to be admin and it wont be as boring as a player  

If you can make good GFX, you don't have to be online for a single minute. ZPs are the only staff required to be on, development staff just have to do their dev work and aren't required to lot on at all.

Me I don't want to be an admin. In fact, I kinda hate it. I just want a fun server that won't get boring within 20 minutes of gameplay.

So I made a quick sketch of a gmap concept



It's basically three gmaps and there's a story behind each one of them. The first level is "old skyworld" which is pretty much just the ruins of the current skyworld. Then there's the "the ghetto" version of a skyworld, following close to the typical futuristic ghetto. My idea behind this was that it got overrun by gang, or squad, activity, and there's ai enemies that you can kill, ultimately gaining experience and level up. I think it would be cool if the ai were giant mechs and small bots. Anyway, the third level, the "new skyworld", is an elegant combination of nature and man made marvels, including large statues and trees and such, but with a futuristic vibe at the same time, much like the fallout 4 pic posted earlier, then in the center of it all is the pvp arena. I reckon the arena would be pretty massive with obsticles and small buildings, in order to emphasize the shooter experience. This arena would be based off the Tron style, and I think all in all it would be pretty badass. Also, a few bases in the arena wouldn't hurt for competition. As the population grew, so did each level of Skyworld, but like any other population, it fails at some point hence why new ones were created atop the other, which is also why the entirety has a cone shape.

Now, if there was a legitimate story mode on the server, here's how I think it should go:

You obviously start on level 3, which you learn the basics of Zone like any other game. Once you're ready, you prepare to enter level 2, which is obtained by going through a treacherous path of hallways, tunnels and giant ventilation systems. Do whatever it is you have to do on level three, then move on --

Now, you're probably wondering why level 1 wasn't overrun by mechs. There was previously a civil war, causing skyworld to split into two. The new skyworld built itself above level 1, sealing it off and losing any remaining contact from the new civilization on level 2. Eventually, the new skyworld was sort of failed as population grew, and started building the new new skyworld atop of level 2 to support the growth. Favoritism caused level 2 to be overrun by gang activity, while level 3 thrived, until now. Level 3 is now experiencing down fall, which is why you need to clear level 2 of gang activity to not only make more room for a worthwhile population, but to also reach level 1 to make even more room. When you reach level 3, you expect a deserted ruin of the old skyworld, but upon entering, you find out the old skyworld actually did survive the civil war and desertion.

I have more ideas for the story further on, and the map, but it probably isn't worth typing an additional five paragraphs to explain them.

What do you guys think? I sort of built the gmap off Elk's concept early on. Is something along these lines plausible or is it not worth it and/or are my ideas crap?

I actually just got a cool idea for the story. Same thing, you are sent to level 2 to clear for more room for the expanding population, but they also send you to level 1 to prepare the jets for stage two of fuel, since stage one is nearing the end, causing two waves of chaos and decisions.  

Heres a better concept
Extremely small gmap like old gmap size
Have it in a mothership
Have a room for shops, a room for transportation to other planets, and a room for the start
Seriously no city bs, izone should be centralized around organized warfare not cities. Supposed to be like that from the start.

If Zone is removed from the app store to be worked on, I can guarantee that the playercount is going to drop - a lot. It's already small as it is, and it will only get smaller. Zone needs to be in a state where it will support a growing player count, not a depleting one. It's a lovely concept but far too big for Zone. The map needs to start off small. That map would be great for maybe a player count you would find on Era and even Classic, but not for Zone. You need to start off small so as the player count grows higher, you can expand the map to accommodate the larger population.

I half agree and half disagree. That was the original plan for zone, but it didn't really work in the end. I honestly don't think the map size has much to do with the player count unless it's either excessively too large or excessively too small. I actually thought a gmap the size I conceptualized was far too large, but after thinking about it I came to the conclusion that content brings players, not the size of the map. I guess what I'm saying is that there needs to be a certain ratio of content to map size to compensate for the boringness.

I would love to start off small by simply using the level 3 of the concept, which I think would suit Zone really well, then building off of that as time goes on as not to rush in content. It isn't much different than GTA V waiting to release online multiplayer or Battlefront waiting to release its campaign.

Either that or just eliminate the first two levels altogether. It was just an application of a story. I'm just too in love with the top level to let it go, since I think it also fits in the theme GIT was talking about where it remains centralized around organized warfare.
