The attack happened less than five days ago, this young girl is clearly in shock and had no idea whether or not any of her future concerts may be targets of additional attacks, and given that she was personally in the building during the attack she was involved in that chaotic scene and is probably traumatized by the scene. What do you expect her to say? "**** Islam, ISIS is incompatible with Western culture #westernization" She's a young girl who probably knows just as much about the situation as the rest of us. When she cancelled her tour I'm sure she wasn't thinking "I shouldn't cancel my concerts because then the tefrorists win, even though that not canceling my tour could attact additional terrorists and thus put even more of my fans in danger, but who cares because the terrorists wouldn't win" she was probably thinking "In order to keep myself and my fans safe I probably shouldn't encourage a large number of them to be in one place" which, as we all know, is a terrorists favorite place to go. All I'm saying is I think we should give her some respect. Thallen I know you're not a fan of the Tumblr/Twitter teenage culture but that's no reason to attack her for the way she responded to the attacks (which is probably how many others would have responded to the attacks). Not only did she experience the attack but it was at her own concert. She's probably scared and confused and is tying to respond in what she believes is the best way possible, and we have to respect her for that. And you can't expect her to suddenly try to use her influence to get her fans to fix the problem. The attack just happened and is raw and we don't even have all of the details yet (and she had even less when she made the tweet) so for her to suddenly start to point fingers on her Twitter account would, in my opinion, be insensitive given how recent the attack is. Maybe she'll speak out more in the future, but for now I think she acted appropriately. As for her saying sorry, it's just something that people say when something tragic happens. If someone says "my father passed away last month", people usually say "I'm so sorry" not because they did it but because it's just something that you say when something like that happens. |

You guys are going to lengths to make it seem like I'm "attacking" her when I've clearly stated:

If we live in a culture where we have to attack a 21 year old singer for saying sorry to those who were hurt by an attack at her concert, then we've gone too far. You're saying Trump is good because 'Hey! He's less sexist than terrorists!' I always know that someone doesn't have much of a foundation for their argument when they have to make someone look better by comparing them to someone worse than them. The fact that you even have to compare only proves the point.
Just as criminals in prison often end up behaving worse than they did when they entered the CJ system. They often get treated like animals. If they keep reinforcing in you that you're dangerous, you'll end up becoming what they reinforced. |

I don't know that much about elsewhere, but the Muslim community as a whole does really great work in my city for those who are worse off and are constantly helping out others. While I don't really agree with a lot of the teachings of Islam I respect their freedom to practice their religion so long as it isn't having a negative impact on the rest of society, which for the most part it's actually benefiting society. This was the Muslim Council of Britain's statement on the bombing in Manchester:

Lives were lost, and you expect her to continue her tour? You may see it as her being a coward, but being able to continue her tour seems to mean that she doesn't care about what just happened to her fans. I don't live in the UK, but one of my friends who currently lives in Stockport (a few miles away from Manchester) is terrified. I wish for those who have been injured to hopefully recover from the trauma they faced. |

Such an unfortunate event I do beleive that continuing her tour would have been nice however she may have been too scared for her life which is understandable,Most people don't have those balls she is no John Lennon to put her life in danger like that I'm sure many of us would have taken the same action. I beleive it would be wrong to generelize the entire religion as in many urban communities they have become more progressive and accepting of liberal beleifs. However I must agree with Thallen that Liberalism is too passive and weak to help solve the problem and perhaps a more aggressive approach is in order. They are taking advantage of weak liberal culture in order to obtain political power in the west. I don't blame people, especialy those in rural areas of the world to be weary of these people however I assure you that not all of these peoplenare regressive, especialy here in North America |

Politics seen directly after tragic events such as this is purely fear-mongering propoganda.

Extremism is a problem and has to be dealt with but do you really think punishing millions for the actions of a few is fair? How about our governments stop giving them weapons? Just the other day Trump made a $110bn arms deal with Saudi Arabia, a country that has supposed ties to ISIS and Trump previously claimed to be behind 9/11. But of course liberals are the problem! |
