In the past, people tried to make themselves lag because they would get more gralats from it. People would farm with their lanterns on, and having more people around helped that out too.

In I want to say 2012, they made some updates to the farming system, and I remember that the news update encouraged players to farm with their friends, as it would speed up the farming process. I just don't know if that's still the case or not
