I've always found it interesting that all modern music genres came from original rock and roll. We call people like Elvis Presley the father of rock and whatever, but really we should just call people like him the forefathers of the modern music industry.

Real Hip-Hop. That garbage that they got out now is just that-- garbage. It's giving the genre a bad name. The key to it is lyricism-- no music genre in the planet has ever exercised the English language like hip hop has. Punch lines, metaphors, word play. They just don't do it anymore. They're all about what will play in the club so that homeboy can get his **** rubbed by a fat ass. A Tribe Called Quest, Black Star, Wu Tang, Redman, KRS-One, Immortal Technique, Canibus, Outkast, Rakim, Eminem, Nas, Slick Rick, Busta Rhymes, Nas, Jay-Z, Big Daddy Kane, NWA, LL Cool J, Notorious BIG, Big L, Slaughterhouse. 'Newer' artists: Hopsin, Kendrick Lamar(before he blew up-- 'swimming pools' is garbage.), Kanye West(First two albums were straight fire), Lupe Fiasco, Fabolous, Ludacris, Cassidy, T.I., some Lil Wayne(most of his stuff is garbage). |

I'm more of an alternative metal- "normal" metal. I'm talking out of my arse here when it comes to naming the official genre of music I listen to, so heres some examples of artists. Linkin Park Foster The People (other than Pumped Up Kicks) Cage The Elephant RiseAgainst Three Days Grace Incubus Saliva Red Hot Chili Peppers FallOutBoy The Black Keys Green Day |

rock is lame hip hop is mostly trash metal is good but depends on the sub-genre. metal is a sub-genre of rock but i like to completely ignore that and put rock on its own island, mostly because it's mega-lame and sounds like ****. rather listen to hip hop than rock. |

Pretty much only listen to variations of rock (pop-punk, alternative, classic, etc.) nowadays, but there's always a few songs from every genre that I like.

I also think I've heard Apathy on several tracks with Jedi Mind Tricks; good from what I recall. I'll check out Atmosphere, Murs, and Celph Titled. Thanks pal. |
