For me, $60.00 a year is a lot. Also, again, its the ONLY console with online service in the history of the video game industry that makes you pay. So regardless of what you say, it IS a huge amount of money compared to anything else.
This is what you said in your first paragraph: ""Tne reason I pay is to play with my friends and talk with them in a party while we play a game. The Xbox 360 also has good exclusives that I love playing online against people. Another advantage is being able to be signed in on multiple accounts (whether it's with a friend or someone) on a game."" Nothing here is a major advantage over the PS3. The only thing you pointed out was party chat. Like I said, the only reason people buy Xbox Live is because their friends have it, and I'm pretty sure that's basically what you're implying. There is no significant advantage besides redundant things like party chat considering most people just use Skype when talking to their friends over the internet. Also, how can you say Xbox has better online games than Playstation? I'm serious. Halo. Gears, and Forza are the only exclusive franchises on Xbox Live that have an established multiplayer. Want to know which franchises have established multiplayer that are exclusive to PS3? Journey, Warhawk, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, God of War, Socom, Killzone, Resistance, and regardless what you say Little Big Planet. Also, the PS3 has all the multiplatform multiplayer games that exist such as CoD and Battlefield 3. If you seriously think Forza, Gears and Halo are still a testament against the PS3's large library of online exclusives, you have another thing coming. Oh, and the fable franchise is basically dead now (look at the Kinect game that was released a few years ago). |

Lol anyway if Microsoft follows EA's path then I'm not buying it. If it doesn't, I will. Also Netflix is great! It's worth getting, and so is Xbox Live. Hannah Montana MARATHON YAY! |

We can argue all day whether it's a large amount a lot. I think this comes down to personal opinion because $60 is not a lot to me in a year. There's no rule saying online services for gaming consoles have to be free.
-Xbox Live party chat. -Signed in on multiple accounts without a built in game feature. -Certain Game exclusives (whether they are better or not comes down to personal opinion) -Free Rewards Program This goes without saying that the PS3 has some good advantages too. There are probably more for each system, but I haven't played my PS3 enough to become an expert on the features of each system.

No, there isn't a rule. But I'm saying that there's no point in buying the xbox from my perspective because I can get the same services for free elsewhere and with the same level of quality content. That's the entire point of this discussion remember?
You're missing my entire point though. I'm not trying to directly compare PS3 exclusives to Xbox exclusives in terms of DLC. I'm comparing the Xbox's library in respect to the rest of the gaming market in general. And, when you look at it that way, the xbox's library is almost entirely multiplatform compare to what other gaming machines have to offer. So games like Left 4 Dead (that is available elsewhere on PC and doesn't require high end specs) are irrelevant, considering we are talking about reasons why anyone should actually buy the xbox console. You seem to not be understanding why I'm not comparing the Xbox exclusive DLC quality directly to the PS3 exclusive DLC quality. Here's a better analogy so you can wrap your head around what I am trying to convey, say you have two groups of people. Group A has about 100 people, Group B has 5. A person inspects the hygiene of the two groups and finds 10 people in group A with bad hygiene, and no one with group B with bad Hygiene. The inspector then concludes that group B has better hygiene than group A. Sort of an illegitimate comparison isn't it? Especially if the Hygiene problems the inspector is pointing out are just simple allergies that really don't mean anything significant. And about those Halo Map packs, the last time I checked xbox Live the anniversary map pack for Halo reach was around $15.00. That skewed my memory to think that a significant number of the map packs were this much when that was not true at all. Sorry. I wasn't trying to pull numbers out of my ass to prove you wrong about an issue that is irrelevant to my point or something. Here's a quick summary of my points so that I can tie them all together considering it may be kinda hard to understand what I'm trying to say with that wall of text. There are very few advantages regarding Xbox Live and not enough quality exclusives to justify the purchase of an Xbox. Sure, Playstaion may have minor problems with a few of their exclusives regarding DLC but this does not retract from the massive and diverse library it offers compared to the Xbox in terms of gameplay. In the end, there isn't really any significant reason to buy an Xbox unless you really enjoy playing games on splitscreen. |

I don't blame you if you didn't read my entire post. I got a headache just typing it. I respect your opinion and I probably am paying too much and don't realize it yet. Perhaps I'll see the light some day. |

The main reason why I feel that only having a few exclsuives is a bad thing is because, naturally, it limits the amount of varied gameplay a gamer can experience. So, because of the PS3's exclsuvies, it offers a wider array of experiences in my opinion. I like more single player games with enticing story and innovative gameplay, like Journey. But the PS3 has plenty of exclusives with lasting appeal as well. And these exclusives generally have more varied gameplay than the typical saturated military shooter that congests over half of the western market. Ni Nu Kuni can last over 50 hours depending on how you play the game. And the graphics are gorgeous! Its studio Ghibli for crying out loud! ![]()
