Obamacare is NOT the answer either. I pay for my insurance, and work. My wife had to get medicaid/care (whatever) when she had our first child because we had no insurance. I'm glad temporary things like that (temporary for my family) are there. BUT from the money I would have saved by NOT paying all the social benefits, I could have paid the hospital out of pocket and not needed a baby shower at all. Now, as a working American I pay for insurance, and I have good coverage, but because of the ACA (Obamacare), my premiums are now rising, and expected to rise, according to the letter from my employer aligned with the insurance provider, up to ~10k/yr for a family of 4. I don't make a lot of money, and I mean nearly nothing (safe to say, less than 40k as the only income provider of fixing to be a family of 4), and I'm getting raised taxes and higher insurance premiums while qualifying for none of the social benefits (wouldn't want them anyways honestly). That's messed up. All the crap fed to the "middle and lower class" are hurting people like me, who live check to check recently. Not to mention corps have to pay more, and have cut overtime and hours like crazy. Oh and for the "trickle down theory" haters: if you've ever worked a day in your life, you really can't say that, because some rich guys company gave you work and pay. It may not be the best jobs at times, but that, my pals, is the money trickling down. Some of us, including myself, just get the droplets but it is what it is. The republicans are doing what they believe the people who voted them in want them to do, halt the debt rising, cut spending, and do every dang thing to kill the ACA if ever possible. That is checks and balances my friend. The majority of people who voted in the republicans are for the things mentioned above, so they would be representing the people as best possible. I'm not saying all politicians do, and I'm not saying Democrats are not representing anyone either, btw. Also I'm tired of hearing all the ******s in media and "famous people" saying we voted in Obama so we need to support this 100% and the republicans are wrong. Did they forget congress is elected too? Idiots... On top of that, people saying all the republicans are rich old farts, what the hell do you think democrats are? young and poor? lol. C'mon people... Most of the media, democrats, and alike are some of the richest people period. Opera, John Kerry, Obama (now, not before, he has invested in foreign stuff and made quite a bit), I could name tons of "Old rich farts" that are democrat. I'm not a full republican either, to add. I'd rather call myself an anti-federalist. |

You bring up some good points. With Obamacare a lot of us will get out of college at some point and some will be getting out of college and the rest already are. The ones just getting out or have to in the future will be paying loads of money for student loans etc. being in your twenties at your peak of healthiness is definitely not when you want to be paying for health care when you could be using that money to pay for your schooling. And how Obama got in, the baby boomers, babies born when all the fathers got back from WW2, just started turning 65 and retiring. What do these old people do? They vote. These people will vote for whoever will give them the most benefits at their age with social security and the health care. Obama was that guy. |

The GOP has majority in the House, they are checking the Senate and Executive branch. It's called Checks and Balances. Each party has moderates they will sometimes vote against the ideals of their party. They're the ones that usually even things out. You are right that our flaws our showing with our government and the the 2 party system. The problem is our voted officials are ALL TALK and no walk. They will say whatever they need to say to get in, once they're in they run their own agenda, and that of lobbyists. |

Perhaps I phrased this incorrectly. Allow me to reiterate. The two party system does not place a check over another branch simply because of a difference in political belief or for tyrannous action. Rather, more due to political alignment and not in the correct way the framers had intended it to be. A two party system implies that you choose a side, and do all that you can to work against the other regardless of the matter in order to appease your party and to gain a higher position in the federal bureaucracy in some cases. If one side says yes on a bill, the other is likely to say no just to combat their counterpart. Not because its what they think, but because it's what their party thinks. This happens in both parties, which is the reason why the two party system is so flawed. Every vote on legislation should be done individually by the senators and representatives of their state; in thinking of how this will benefit the people of their state and the nation of the whole, or how it will not. Unfortunately, this is not the case in our politics. Murcia'!

IMO opinion the Republicans are being stupid. Obamacare (is that what it's called?) is a major benefit to any country, and (according to my mum) the Republicans want to get rid of it by not contributing to the budget. To my understanding obamacare is the same as Medicare and Medicare has saved many, many, lives. I've heard some people have had to sell their houses, cars, and whatnot to afford medical treatment for cancer or some other disease in the US. One man even stole to afford treatment for his daughter's leukaemia. Are higher taxes really that much of a problem when considering that that money goes towards saving someone's life? Anyway, your government needs to start paying back the debts. The whole world will be heavily impacted by this. And start convincing your parents/yourself to vote and for better politicians. just saying >.< |

At least your mom knows what's up. Blocking the debt ceiling means the executive branch cant fund stuff that congress demanded in the first place. It's a weird process that allows congress to extort the government.
