Bullet Walls and Warping Players
Hey, as you all probably know when someone is laggy and they shoot their gun a lot, a wall of bullets suddenly appears and they warp to safety. Don't suppose it's possible for those bullets to just disappear and not hurt anyone cause that isn't really fair, and the lagger gets warped back to where he was?

Seems they could use all that BAR money to upgrade to better servers and address the lag. Wait, what BAR money? Lol

Then how did classic almost defeat all there lag on the server? Like on classic I've never lagged out of the app or crashed.., Yet on Era it crashes almost every 20 minutes.Could go on about lag issues aswell. :/ |

Hmm... How about a separate spar for players with over x ms. That way they would still be able to spar at least... Pk/basing might still be an issue though... Segregation ftw!

I would think Era would create a lot more triggers given the sheer amount of projectiles being created (compare people shooting arrows to players firing miniguns). This would mean the server is under a lot more strain (but then, i've never looked into resource usage on them )One possibility could be to replace projectiles with classes. Create weapons to smartly shoot projectiles. Instead of a projectile per shot, create a projectile with a fraction of the rate per fire (a minigun might create a particle which handles 5 bullets). This method would create less triggers but would make things like accuracy difficult (making a particle handle multiple bullets at different angels would suck) plus shoot() is quite optimised so this may not balance out well over time. On a flip side, this would give greater control over the projectile so could add modifiers (bullets with explosive tips, degraded damage over flight path, deflect bullets off armor) Such a thing would take a lot of time and effort but would be fun ![]() For the original problem of the wall of bullets, I think this could be one for Stefan. Some kind of restriction to only allow a certain amount of bullets from a player per second. Would require a lot of fiddling I think (only he can make such changes) |
