This poll was a bit inspired by MrSimons's coping thread, but how many of you out there have a friend you know you can trust with anything? And by that I mean being able to tell them anything that may be on your mind. This could include someone you know in real life or someone you even met online. Do you know someone who you know you could trust with anything and be able to tell them anything?

I thought I could trust Colin until he was found to have leaked top secret Canadian military intelligence to all his instagram followers.  

Only one or two. But that's what therapists are for.

I have a hard time trusting people.

Yeah I have 1 or 2 people. And pffft, therapists? F that, I would never tell some random person my problems if I had any. I don't think they would be able to help. It's all on yourself i feel like  

I don't have friends anymore since i do online school (<Public school ruined me).
I think i talk to my therapist only that isn't my family.

It's not easy to do it, but when you're on the verge of hurting yourself/killing yourself, you get over the fact that it's some creepy old man/woman. And it's nice to vent. Even if it's not serious problems.

:o never really been to the point where I wanted to seriously commit suicide but damn that's crazy and true I suppose  

Not having someone to talk to sucks. I would know because I used to be like that. Used to see a therapist about a year ago but it just wasn't working out for me because trust issues and was never good at opening up. Especially to a stranger that was only in it for the money.. :I

Awe. I used to talk to my school psychologist. It's so difficult to get help when they don't understand but she was really nice to me.  

I can count on my crime partner to have my back no matter what, but I would never tell that gossip queen anything that I would be embarrassed about.

The people deserved to know about this new night vision technology the air force is using!!!

Usually just tell these sort of things to my dogs/cats/fish. (They are my friends more than most people)

I trust anything that can't communicate with people.

Usually you will have an NDA with your therapist so there isn't really any concern about having them know your secret. Personally I think it is much better to talking to them than actual friends for a few reasons; keep in mind I am only talking about an actual professional therapist btw, not your school counselor or whatever.

1. They have multiple clients a day everyday of the week. Most likely there is nothing that you could tell them that they haven't heard and dealt with before, they've already heard it and 2x worse.

2. It is their job to help you with your problems, they aren't some random person, they are someone who spent years studying psych and works around people everyday. Chances are their advice is much better than your friend's anyway.

3. They do not actually care that much about you, you are just their job, they don't have any sort of bias on your life or what you do like your friends will. So once again, their advice will be better than a friend's.

Sometimes you don't even want their advice, you just want to talk to someone. I love talking to my therapist because I don't care what he thinks about me, he isn't a friend or my family, he is just an outlet for me to talk to when I need to let **** out. I started seeing my guy a few years ago as a drug abuse counselor, and after about 6-8 months he told me I don't really need to keep seeing him, but I still do just because I like having someone that I can let my thoughts out to.


Only downside imo is that therapists are usually expensive af, I pay $80 an hour, but I think $80 is a fair price to pay for not being nearly as stressed as I would be otherwise.
