One easily removed barrier to advanced furniture is that each piece is isolated from the others. Meaning right now for example we can't have a switch placed separately from a door to open it.

You mean like having a switch outside and a switch inside? There are a bunch of interesting methods of creating switches that are timed or 'activate' when you step on a particular location - try experimenting with Attack Block / Switch combinations. If you line it up correctly, an attack block will shoot at a switch and cause it to activate only when players stand in a certain spot. |
