People carry guns on them all the time. It's concealed carry. It's for your own protection. Does it really matter what you're doing? You could be going to the store, but you carry the gun in case of emergencies for protection. I never said we should stop trying to fix guns, lol. Again, you're making up ridiculous arguments and pretending I said them. I specifically said we need better regulations. There's not much point arguing with you, though, if you think it's plausible to illegalize all guns and confiscate them from gun owners. Although, I'm not sure why we're even arguing because you made the argument with very loose interpretations of what I said, or just downright replacing words like "people" and "everyone". By the way, incase you haven't noticed - we are at that place where you have to worry about your safety in a night club. You have to worry about your safety at schools, at churches, at stores, everywhere. The argument for "gun incidents will still happen" is because they will still happen!! There's no evidence that taking guns away in America will reduce crime. In fact, it's near-impossible to get a permit in New York City, Chicago, and more cities like that, yet they have the highest crime rates. Since you like scenarios, I'll come up with one. Guy illegally has a gun. He goes to a store and starts shooting people. No one has guns, 12 people die, 7 get injured. Guy illegally has a gun. He goes to a store and starts shooting people. 2 people have concealed guns, they hear gunshots and get their guns out and draw fire to prevent the attacker from shooting people. 3 people die, 2 get injured. That's a very plausible outcome in those scenarios. I 100% agree that there needs to be better regulations. I previously said that if someone being investigated by the FBI for terrorist ties is able to legally purchase a gun, then there's a major problem. However, taking guns away from everyone is absurd and implausible. |

Who'd have thought that in a thread where we discuss a woman getting shot in the US that we'd mention gun laws in the US? THE ABSOLUTE MADMEN!

We aren't flaming...it's general discussion. I know it's surprising to see that on this forum, but if having civil conversations with other people is a bad thing, then I guess I'm a horrible person.

I will stop as Christina deserves to not have "flame" on her thread (which you seem to want by this instigative post). Very disappointed in you. |

Okay. Seriously out of all people to call out a flame war, is Distorted? I'm sorry, but you are very well known for contributing to flames. This type of behavior on a thread that's about dealing with grief is unacceptable of course, but it's unacceptable anywhere else in the word. Yelling insults obviously isn't going to get anywhere, and will just make both parties at guilt. But those who've called out the flamewars have both contributed to flame wars in the past, and are antagonizing those flaming in this thread, which is contributing to the flame itself. Besides the flame war, there is an analysis going on. People are either trying to figure out why the **** these types of things happen. Whether bringing evidence to spite a claim, or literally theorizing on something. Now you can say it's ****ty to do such a thing during the grief of a death, but deaths are ****ty regardless. Where we stand right now is someone was murdered. This isn't the first murder and I know we can all agree it won't be the last. This is a ****ed up situation. Gun debate or not. We can't be ignorant about the situation. Regardless if you think gun control will solve it or not. And the [relatively] best time to discuss such a morbid subject is after someone innocent died. Because we know it's going to happen again, so we can't ignore it claiming it's disrespectful. Call me an asshole for thinking this, but I care a hell of a lot more for the living than for the dead, because the dead are already dead. All we can do is grieve, and find out where we ****ed up, so we can protect those still alive. I didn't know who Christina Grimmie is before her death. I had little to no interest in her subculture. The only thing that ****ing matters is an innocent died. Why the **** does no one seem to want to talk about preventing more innocents from dying? How long do we have to wait until it's no longer socially taboo? People stop caring about things that aren't relevant, so we need to have this hard conversation while it still is relevant. Now you may think there is no way to prevent these kinds of things, so my point isn't valid because there's no reason to talk about it. But that requires an analysis itself. You can't come to a conclusion without studying what's at hand. There is no avoiding this unless you want more innocent deaths. This rant isn't me trying to explain a way to prevent these shootings, but instead trying to justify a discussion/fight Edit: didn't see this post until now

Grieving can't bring her back to life, but voting in local elections can change how gun control works, to potentially protect those still alive, so I have to disagree with you there. I see nothing wrong with either. |
